 SBS History

During a chat session on the Samba the discussion about scraping steering boxes came about. Different terms were thrown out like Box knockers, Street Graders and then Derv threw out steering box scrapers. Anthony aka DubStyle said "Hey I like that phrase! Can I use it?" Derv said sure not knowing where he was going with it. The next morning on Fri Jun 30, 2006 @ 5:36 am Anthony posted the thread "Calling All Steering Box Scrapers" that start it all.

The response to the idea was outstanding. More than 100 Samba users joined up in no time. Once the word got out, 60/15windows aka Dave joined up from the UK. Shortly after UK interest exploded. Aaron aka WideFive started a user group at Yahoo to help the Web Club grow. With UK interest growing at an alarming rate a few of the 1st members stepped up to help track UK/Euro membership. UK's Karl aka shaggy66bus stepped to the plate and accepted the title as UK Big Kahuna. Sean aka NAES stepped to the plate to spread the word about the SBS and had the 1st round of shirts printed. Since members David, Frank, Scott and Scott have done more shirt runs, Banner Run and Sticker Runs.

6 months old the SBS members decided they needed to start a forum. One of the members hosted it at his site, due conflict of interest the Forum needed to find a new home. The initial URL was purchased for 5 years. With the help of Ben and Boz the site got off to a running start.

1 year later and 200 members and a few gatherings the SBS had the 1st annual Drive your bus to work day. With video and pictures showing their SBS pride! Just like most families the SBS had a blow out shortly after the 1st year of being alive. All parties involved kissed and made up. New guidelines were put in place to prevent blow outs in the future.

The SBS continued to grow for another year and how this family has evolved! SBS members continue to meet at shows coast to coast. UK members make contact in the U.S., photo ops and friendships flourish. The site changed from .com to .NET recently and our family continues to grow stronger by the day.

Without the the help and involvement of the members around the world the SBS wouldn't be what it is today. DubStyle thanks each and everyone one who has contributed to the site and club.
